BUENOS AIRES, March 23 (Xinhua) — Argentina’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose 10.3 percent in 2021, after rising 8.6 percent in the fourth quarter of last year, the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) announced on Wednesday.

In its report, INDEC said all demand elements increased in 2021 compared to 2020, pointing to a jump in private and public consumption, exports and imports, and gross fixed capital formation.

According to the institute, construction increased by 27.1%, hotels and restaurants by 23.5%, fishing by 16.5%, manufacturing by 15.8% and trade by 13.2%.

Other sectors that recorded growth were mining (9.5%), transport and telecommunications (7.4%), health and social services (6%) and education (3.8%). .

Overall, 13 of the country’s 14 main economic sectors ended the year with an increase in activity, while agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and hunting were the only sector to register a decline. by 0.3%, according to the report.

Meanwhile, in 2021, private consumption in the South American country increased by 10.2% and public consumption by 7.8%, while exports increased by 9% and foreign purchases by 21.5. %.
